「The Executive Producer of 343 Industries, Kiki Wolfkill, recently divulged that the upcoming Halo TV series may “shift dates, locations, or ethnicity of characters”, with it looking like another series will soon be hit with forced diversity. It was previously divulged that a special Halo TV series is being produced for TV network “Showtime”, though recently it was announced that the show will likely get swept up in the West’s narrative as it may “shift dates, locations, or ethnicity of characters”.」
Changing the dates and locations may not be that big of a deal if done correctly but why the ethnicity of the characters? Why does this need to be changed now? It doesn't really have a place in the series whatsoever either.
「Divulged at a panel at Reboot Develop, 343 Industries Executive Producer Kiki Wolfkill stated that they intend to respect Halo’s canon, but not at the expense of “doing what makes sense”; an example cited was the fact that Master Chief never shows his face, but it was questioned whether or not such a concept would work on a TV show:
“There are occasions where he showers…” Wolfkill laughed. “Joking aside, there are some details that we may shift, but we want to respect the fans and what they love about the IP.”
Wolfkill issued a foreboding claim, explaining that they will never be able to please all fans, but they will do “what’s right” for the series.」
Who exactly decides 'what is right' and what makes it right? Apparently the right way is YOUR way and not what the fans want. Okay got it.
「Previous reports revealed Kyle Killen as writer and showrunner (with his works “Mind Games”, “Lone Star” and “Awake” all managing only a single season), Showtime’s President of Programming, Gary Levine, had this to say regarding Killen’s selection:
“We made a conscious decision to hire a writer not known for sci-fi and not known for big battle movies or anything. Because that’s already baked into the Halo franchise and we will service that. But we also want to ensure that we get underneath the formidable armor of the Spartans.”」
In what way does that many ANY fucking sense? That is largely what the Halo series is and you're going to hire an inexperienced writer to write this TV series? Holy fucking shit this incompetence.
